Guys

I am thinking of booking a little jaunt to Pattaya at the end of April.

Looking at possible hotels, the LK Royal Suites are doing really good deals at the moment on their 1 bedroom suites as is the Amari Nova Suites. The Amari is slightly pricier at 2500 baht a night plus taxes but includes internet access whereas the LK is about 300 baht a night cheaper but you have to pay for the wifi. So it's pretty close.

The LK is almost certainly better located in terms of convenience but I prefer the look of the rooms at the Amari...plus their facilities seem better overall ie full kitchens, etc.

Does anyone have a view on which is better? I am a bit bothered by just how far off Pattaya Klang the Amari is...does anyone know how long it would take to walk from the hotel down Soi Sukrudee to the main road? I don't mind in the evenings when I am coming back because I could just charter a bahtbus but I am thinking about trips out during the day to go shopping etc.

Any views?

Hi Cookie,

I stayed right next door to Amari Nova suites for over a year.

The location is not too bad at all.

They have a golf cart that will take you to Pattaya Klang or Second Road free of charge, but the walk is only a few minutes.

You are also only a few minutes walk from Soi 6 :whistling:

but the walk is only a few minutes.

Thanks Taffy.

So if I was walking at a reasonable pace how long would it take to walk down to the beach to get a baht bus? 10 mins? Longer?

As a final question are there any family marts or 7/11s near the hotel?

Cookie,

Not sure what is a reasonable pace so here are the distances (I been on Google Earth and traced the paths)

  • Family Mart is 151 Meters.

  • Pattaya Klang is 455 Meters.

  • 2nd Road is 573 Meters.

  • Beach Road is 973 Meters via Soi 6

  • Beach Road is 935 Meters via Soi 6/1 (If you like that kind of thing :whistling:)

Hi Cookie,

My mum and dad have stayed at the Amari suites and my brother has stayed at the LK for a month.

Personal opinion here. Yes, the Amari wins with it's suites, but i myself would stay at the LK. The 1 bedroom rooms there are very very good also and you need only step out your door and find everything you might ever need at your door step.

My brother never had any problems with noise either, albeit the LK is as central as you could ever wish for.

So as i have said, personal choice, i'd go for LK every time.

Hmmm...thanks Guys. Does seem as if the Amari is a little off the beaten track...don't mind walking 1km going out in the evening but I am just thinking about trips out during the day to Carrefour etc...sounds like it might be a hassle.

Maybe I will book the LK and try a few nights in the Amari...

Are you talking about this kind of thing Taffy? How long did you say you lived near there? :secret:

Back in 2008 when the work was sending me up to Thailand on a regular basis, they initially put us in the Marriott ($$$$/night) but after discussions with Dog, i went along to the LK Hotels and had a look. Eventually decided on the LK Royal suites. Good sized room i had - along with living area, kitchen, dining area, jucczzi, walk in shower, and bed was very comfortable also.

Thanks for the info Steve. Did you stay in the regular 1 bed Suites or the Versace Suites or Duplex Suites? They have a Grand Duplex as well but it's a 2 bed and a little too big. They also have a Garden Suite which is 220 sq m but I am guessing that most of that is the balcony/garden.

I am intrigued though by their Duplex Suite..it's listed as 80 sq.m same as a regular 1 bed Suite but presumably is on 2 floors (that's my understanding of duplex anyway).

Has anyone seen it? There are no photos of it on their website :realmad:

Well, just as a little update I have booked 4 nights in a 1 bed at the LK Royal Suites at the start of my trip and then 4 nights immediately afterwards in the Amari Nova Suites which were about 500 baht a night more but do look a lot nicer (and include in the price wifi).

Guess I will be able to see which I prefer after my trip. I'll certainly post a load of photos so people can have a proper look at the rooms..both websites for the hotels are sadly lacking in detail.
